Do You Need to Pay Sales Tax?

Web Design by Dave is based in Connecticut and follows all applicable state sales tax regulations.

Under Connecticut law, many website-related services — including website design, development, updates, and maintenance — are classified as “computer and data processing services” and are subject to a reduced sales tax rate of 1% when the benefit of the service is received in Connecticut.

For clients located outside of Connecticut, these services are generally not subject to Connecticut sales tax.

In some cases, additional items may be included in a project that are subject to the standard 6.35% sales tax rate, such as:

  • Software licenses or premium plugins/themes
  • Domain name registration purchased on your behalf
  • Web hosting services that we resell
  • Certain digital goods or downloadable assets

If your project includes any taxable items, applicable sales tax will be included in your invoice.

Qualified nonprofit organizations with valid Connecticut exemption certificates will not be charged sales tax on taxable items.
